The Giving Tree is a BSWSA annual event. It occurs during the holiday season. In the past, BSWSA has connected with a youth-serving community partner. BSWSA sponsors 15-20 kids from the organization.

 

The kids decorate a paper ornament and write their Christmas list on the back. The ornaments are then hung on a tree in the Social Work Commons. Faculty, staff, and students are able to sponsor a child during the holiday season.

 

Once the gifts are returned to BSWSA, members wrap the gifts and distribute them to the child's family.

 

However, during the 2015 holiday season, BSWSA sponsored an organization for the first time in Giving Tree history. Indiana Center for Children and Families (ICCF) had items on their "wish list" fulfilled through the Giving Tree (pictured above).
